  10. @chapter Description
  11. @c man begin DESCRIPTION
  12. FFplay is a very simple and portable media player using the FFmpeg
  13. libraries and the SDL library. It is mostly used as a testbed for the
  14. various FFmpeg APIs.

  20. @table @option
  21. @item -x @var{width}
  22. Force displayed width.
  23. @item -y @var{height}
  24. Force displayed height.
  25. @item -s @var{size}
  26. Set frame size (WxH or abbreviation), needed for videos which do
  27. not contain a header with the frame size like raw YUV. This option
  28. has been deprecated in favor of private options, try -video_size.
  29. @item -an
  30. Disable audio.
  31. @item -vn
  32. Disable video.
  33. @item -ss @var{pos}
  34. Seek to a given position in seconds.
  35. @item -t @var{duration}
  36. play <duration> seconds of audio/video
  37. @item -bytes
  38. Seek by bytes.
  39. @item -nodisp
  40. Disable graphical display.
  41. @item -f @var{fmt}
  42. Force format.
  43. @item -window_title @var{title}
  44. Set window title (default is the input filename).
  45. @item -loop @var{number}
  46. Loops movie playback <number> times. 0 means forever.
  47. @item -showmode @var{mode}
  48. Set the show mode to use.
  49. Available values for @var{mode} are:
  50. @table @samp
  51. @item 0, video
  52. show video
  53. @item 1, waves
  54. show audio waves
  55. @item 2, rdft
  56. show audio frequency band using RDFT ((Inverse) Real Discrete Fourier Transform)
  57. @end table
  58. Default value is "video", if video is not present or cannot be played
  59. "rdft" is automatically selected.
  60. You can interactively cycle through the available show modes by
  61. pressing the key @key{w}.
  62. @item -vf @var{filtergraph}
  63. Create the filtergraph specified by @var{filtergraph} and use it to
  64. filter the video stream.
  65. @var{filtergraph} is a description of the filtergraph to apply to
  66. the stream, and must have a single video input and a single video
  67. output. In the filtergraph, the input is associated to the label
  68. @code{in}, and the output to the label @code{out}. See the
  69. ffmpeg-filters manual for more information about the filtergraph
  70. syntax.
  71. @item -af @var{filtergraph}
  72. @var{filtergraph} is a description of the filtergraph to apply to
  73. the input audio.
  74. Use the option "-filters" to show all the available filters (including
  75. sources and sinks).
  76. @item -i @var{input_file}
  77. Read @var{input_file}.
  78. @end table
  79. @section Advanced options
  80. @table @option
  81. @item -pix_fmt @var{format}
  82. Set pixel format.
  83. This option has been deprecated in favor of private options, try -pixel_format.
  84. @item -stats
  85. Print several playback statistics, in particular show the stream
  86. duration, the codec parameters, the current position in the stream and
  87. the audio/video synchronisation drift. It is on by default, to
  88. explicitly disable it you need to specify @code{-nostats}.
  89. @item -bug
  90. Work around bugs.
  91. @item -fast
  92. Non-spec-compliant optimizations.
  93. @item -genpts
  94. Generate pts.
  95. @item -rtp_tcp
  96. Force RTP/TCP protocol usage instead of RTP/UDP. It is only meaningful
  97. if you are streaming with the RTSP protocol.
  98. @item -sync @var{type}
  99. Set the master clock to audio (@code{type=audio}), video
  100. (@code{type=video}) or external (@code{type=ext}). Default is audio. The
  101. master clock is used to control audio-video synchronization. Most media
  102. players use audio as master clock, but in some cases (streaming or high
  103. quality broadcast) it is necessary to change that. This option is mainly
  104. used for debugging purposes.
  105. @item -threads @var{count}
  106. Set the thread count.
  107. @item -ast @var{audio_stream_number}
  108. Select the desired audio stream number, counting from 0. The number
  109. refers to the list of all the input audio streams. If it is greater
  110. than the number of audio streams minus one, then the last one is
  111. selected, if it is negative the audio playback is disabled.
  112. @item -vst @var{video_stream_number}
  113. Select the desired video stream number, counting from 0. The number
  114. refers to the list of all the input video streams. If it is greater
  115. than the number of video streams minus one, then the last one is
  116. selected, if it is negative the video playback is disabled.
  117. @item -sst @var{subtitle_stream_number}
  118. Select the desired subtitle stream number, counting from 0. The number
  119. refers to the list of all the input subtitle streams. If it is greater
  120. than the number of subtitle streams minus one, then the last one is
  121. selected, if it is negative the subtitle rendering is disabled.
  122. @item -autoexit
  123. Exit when video is done playing.
  124. @item -exitonkeydown
  125. Exit if any key is pressed.
  126. @item -exitonmousedown
  127. Exit if any mouse button is pressed.
  128. @item -codec:@var{media_specifier} @var{codec_name}
  129. Force a specific decoder implementation for the stream identified by
  130. @var{media_specifier}, which can assume the values @code{a} (audio),
  131. @code{v} (video), and @code{s} subtitle.
  132. @item -acodec @var{codec_name}
  133. Force a specific audio decoder.
  134. @item -vcodec @var{codec_name}
  135. Force a specific video decoder.
  136. @item -scodec @var{codec_name}
  137. Force a specific subtitle decoder.

  148. Cycle audio channel in the curret program.
  149. @item v
  150. Cycle video channel.
  151. @item t
  152. Cycle subtitle channel in the current program.
  153. @item c
  154. Cycle program.
